Founder & company story

Built from the craft.Designed for what comes next.

TeslaWrapper is one bay in Ashburn, Virginia, and one person doing the installations. The rest of this page explains how a shop that small ended up with written standards, its own software and a founder who spends his other hours on patents — and, just as carefully, what none of that means for the car you are having wrapped.

The person

Raoul Shah

Six descriptions, none of them a title anybody handed him. They are here because each one changed something about how this shop is built — and where one of them does not touch your car at all, it says so.

  • Business operator

He runs the shop and does the installations. One bay, one vehicle at a time, appointment only — Frederick, Maryland from January 2024 to January 2025, and Ashburn, Northern Virginia since.

The schedule is measured in days rather than weeks because nothing is queued behind three other cars, and the person who quoted your project is the one holding the squeegee.

Two trading addresses, one of them closed and published anyway: 4101 Harvard Place, Unit B, Frederick, MD 21703. The shop has traded under three names — ModelWrapped, SpaceShip Wraps, and now TeslaWrapper — and work, listings and reviews exist under all three.

  • Installer

Wrap training attended in person with the manufacturer and with the distributor the film is bought through: 3M in Baltimore in July 2024, Grimco headquarters in Pennsylvania in July 2024, and 3M in Orlando in June 2025.

It is one part of the experience and not the whole of it. The cars in the gallery are the rest, and they were wrapped by these hands rather than by a crew.

These are participation certificates from training courses attended. They are not certifications, accreditation or a qualification, and they do not mean TeslaWrapper is certified, endorsed, authorized by, approved by or partnered with 3M or Grimco. Grimco is the distributor we buy 3M™ and Avery Dennison® film through — a supply relationship, nothing more.

  • Entrepreneur

He founded this shop, and separately founded AutoWrap Robotics LLC and AutoWrap AI®. They are different companies with different work, not divisions of one another.

It is why a wrap studio has a technology story at all. It is also why the two are kept visibly apart on this site: one of them takes your money and wraps your car, and the other has never touched a customer vehicle.

The separation is stated wherever the patents are mentioned, in the same words: TeslaWrapper does not own them.

  • Technology builder

The documentation, scheduling and quality records this shop runs on are software he wrote. AutoWrap AI® — the platform intended to control robotic systems for vehicle surface treatment — is in development.

It is why a single-bay shop can hold a photographic condition record on your car, review it with you before work starts, and walk the car against it at handover. That part is running today.

AutoWrap AI’s demonstrations are recorded physics simulations. The modules have not run on a physical robot, sensor or vehicle, and nothing on this site says they have.

  • Inventor

Named inventor on 4 issued U.S. patents totaling 62 claims, all assigned to AutoWrap Robotics LLC.

Writing them meant describing the craft precisely — surface condition, material behavior, what quality control actually checked. That interest shows up in how this shop keeps records. It does not show up as a robot in the bay.

All four are issued, all four are United States patents, and every one links to its full text at the USPTO. They belong to a separate company and no part of your project depends on them.

  • Real-estate professional

A Virginia REALTOR® with Real Broker, LLC, and the founder of VirginiaBuyer.com — working with buyers, sellers, investors and builders across the Commonwealth.

Two businesses, one owner, and it is the reason property and lease conversations here are held by somebody who has had them before. It changes nothing about the film on your car.

Two separate businesses with one owner in common. VirginiaBuyer.com is not part of TeslaWrapper, TeslaWrapper is not a real estate service, and Real Broker, LLC does not sponsor, endorse or operate TeslaWrapper.

  • Doctoral business student

Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration, studying business strategy, technology and innovation.

In progress, not completed. It shapes how the shop is organized — the written standard, the records, the idea that a second bay should produce the same car — rather than how film goes on a panel.

Stated as in progress everywhere it appears on this site. No degree is claimed, no honorific is used, and none will be until it is finished.

How the thinking moved

An evolution of the idea. Not a schedule.

This is the order the thinking went in, over one person’s career — not a plan with dates and not a description of what this shop can do. Every stage carries its real status. Two of them are running, one is software in use here, and the last three are being built or exist only as issued patents. Nothing past the second stage has been near a customer’s car.

  1. 01

    Vehicle transformation

Learning to wrap cars by hand, on real customer vehicles — including Cybertrucks in the first months they were on the road, when almost nobody had seen one in person.

    Running today
  2. 02

    Standardization

Writing the craft down. The same panel sequence, one approved set of films, the same post-heat, the same checks before a customer sees the car, and a photographic record from intake to handover.

    Running today
  3. 03

An operating system for the shop

Turning the written standard into something the business runs on: intake condition records, scheduling, the quality checks, the handover walk — held as data rather than in somebody’s head.

  4. 04

    Software

AutoWrap AI® — a platform intended to plan and control vehicle surface treatment rather than merely record it. A separate company’s work, and not a product anyone can buy.

  5. 05

    AI

3D surface understanding, defect detection, environmental adaptation and learning from expert demonstration — the themes the patents are actually built around.

    Robotics

Robotic vehicle surface treatment, robotic lighting installation, and AI operations for a vehicle service center. Described in issued patents. Demonstrated only as recorded physics simulations, never on a physical robot, sensor or vehicle.

    In development

Every vehicle TeslaWrapper installs is wrapped by a person, by hand. The technology below is what AutoWrap Robotics is building — it is not what wraps your car.

From physical craft to intellectual property

The craft, written downuntil an examiner accepted it.

A patent application is an unusually strict way to describe a trade: every element has to be specific enough to defend and honest enough to survive examination. Doing that for vehicle surface treatment meant taking apart what a good installer does and saying it in words.

The patents referenced here are assigned to AutoWrap Robotics LLC, a separate company founded by the same inventor. TeslaWrapper does not own them.

1

3 of the 4 are vehicle-related — robotic surface treatment, robotic lighting installation, and AI operations for a vehicle service center. The remaining 1 is a dermatological imaging patent in an entirely different field, with nothing to do with vehicles, wrapping or your Tesla. It is listed because leaving a patent out of a portfolio count would be the dishonest option.

All four are issued United States patents, not applications. Nothing here is described as patent pending, no application still in examination is counted in the four, and no foreign counterpart is claimed.

These are issued United States patents. No foreign counterparts are claimed.

An issued patent is a legal right to exclude others, granted on what is claimed. It is not proof that a working product exists, not a prediction that one will, and not a reason to expect a better wrap. None of these four has produced anything you can buy, and the wrap you are buying is done by hand either way.

Any demonstration of the robotic systems is a simulation illustrating the disclosed inventions, not a physical working prototype.

The practical effect is not that a robot touches your car. It is that we are unusually interested in the parts of this trade that can be measured — surface condition, material behavior, what was documented before work started, what quality control actually checked. Writing patents about automating a craft requires understanding the craft in detail first.

Three names, three different things

Which one is which.

They share a founder and nothing else that matters to you. Merging them in your head is the one misunderstanding this page would rather prevent than correct.

Layer 1

TeslaWrapper™

The experience

The wrap studio. A person, a bay in Ashburn, one Tesla at a time, installed by hand. This is the company you are buying from, and it owns no patents.

Layer 2

AutoWrap AI®

The software

AI software being developed to plan and control vehicle surface treatment. In development, demonstrated as recorded physics simulations, and not what wraps anybody’s car.

Layer 3

AutoWrap Robotics LLC

The future

The separate company holding the 4 issued U.S. patents. It has never touched a customer vehicle, and nothing it holds is a service you can buy here.

  1. Craft
  2. Software
  3. AI
  4. Robotics

Read left to right that is a career, not a supply chain. The first word is what happens to your car. The last three are a research track at a different company.

Every vehicle TeslaWrapper installs is wrapped by a person, by hand. The technology below is what AutoWrap Robotics is building — it is not what wraps your car.

The reason

Why build all of this?

Vehicle wrapping is almost entirely manual and almost entirely dependent on individual experience. Two installers, the same film, the same car, and you can get two different results. That gap between craft and consistency is what the patents set out to describe.

The first answer to that gap is not technology, it is writing. A standard that lives in one person’s hands disappears the day that person is ill, busy or gone, and the customer is the one holding a car with a lifting edge and no record of what was done to it. So the sequence got written down, the film list got closed, and every car started being photographed before anything was touched.

Once a process is written precisely enough to be repeated, it turns out to be written precisely enough to be described — and describing it precisely is what a patent application demands. That is the whole of the connection between a wrap bay and a robotics portfolio. It runs in that direction: the craft came first and the documents came out of it.

None of this adds up to autonomous wrapping. There is no robotic wrapping product for sale from any of these companies, nothing has run outside a simulation, and every Tesla that leaves this bay was wrapped by a person. If that changes it will be said plainly, on this page, with the date it changed.

The founder’s position

Different hands. One standard.

The point of writing a craft down is that the result stops depending on who happened to be holding the tool, or on which day of the week the car arrived. That is the whole ambition, and it is deliberately smaller and slower than growth for its own sake.

Today

One pair of hands, in one bay, working to a written standard with a photographic record on every car. Ashburn, Virginia, appointment only.

Tomorrow

The same standard in hands that are not his — a second studio, or a trained installer working to the same written sequence and the same approved films. That is what the franchise standards are for. Today there is one studio.

Future

Different hands that may one day not be hands at all. That is the research track at AutoWrap Robotics, it is a separate company, and it is not part of anything sold here.

What can be checked

Verifiable, and nothing else.

Every line below is either a public document, a published address, or a fact this business will stand behind in writing. Anything that could not be checked was left off rather than softened.

In his own words

I wrap cars by hand, one at a time, in one bay. That is not a philosophy, it is the size of the business, and I would rather say it than have somebody discover it.

The technology work is real and it is separate. It belongs to a different company, it holds the patents, and none of it has been on a customer’s vehicle.

I write the process down because I want the same car to come out whether it is me holding the squeegee or somebody I trained. If that ever stops being true, it was never a standard — it was a habit I happened to have.
